NORMAN – The Oklahoma volleyball team is set to preview the 2022 season with the Crimson and Cream Exhibition at 2 p.m. Saturday, inside McCasland Field House.
Admission to the event will be free for all fans, and the Sooners will sign autographs following the match.
For fans coming to the exhibition, doors at McCasland Field House open at 1 p.m. Parking is available in the Field House lot on the east side of McCasland Field House or the Duck Pond lot on the corner of West Brooks Street and South Jenkins Avenue.
OU Athletics' clear bag policy will be in effect and walk-through metal detectors will be utilized. More information can be found here.
"It's an exciting opportunity for our team to put the jerseys on, open the doors to the fans and showcase the things we've been working on since January," head coach Lindsey Gray-Walton said. "Our expectation is that we go out and compete to the standard we've set. This team likes to be pushed and they're hungry to prove they can win. Tomorrow is no different."
After last season, the Sooners have added depth, but are notably young, with only two graduate students, one senior and mainly underclassmen making up the team. There are eight newcomers that Sooner Nation will see in action Saturday.
The 2022 home schedule features 13 matches including its only home tournament – OU Invitational – to open the season and an action-packed Big 12 slate, featuring reigning Big 12 conference champions, Texas.
"Sooner Nation is going to like the power, personality and passion this team has for competing and each other," Gray-Walton noted.
Season and single-match tickets are now on sale for the upcoming 2022 season. Fans can purchase online through SoonerSports.com or by calling the OU ticket office at (405) 325-2424.
Junior Kelsey Carrington makes her return after being sidelined in 2021 due to illness. Also returning are graduate student Savannah Davison, senior Grace Talpash, junior Tyler Alcorn and sophomore Kristen Birmingham.
At Wyoming last season, Chamberlain appeared in 83 sets over 24 matches played, tallying 481 assists, 122 digs and 13 service aces. She recorded a career-high 48 assists against Utah State and a career-high 11 digs against San Jose State. On 14 occasions she recorded at least 15 assists and recorded at least 40 assists three times. She also tallied three double-doubles in her freshman campaign.
Oliver comes to Oklahoma after stops at Cincinnati and Clemson. In her final season at Cincinnati, Oliver played in 72 sets in 24 matches and recorded 131 kills and 47 blocks. She ranked eighth in the American in hitting percentage (.320) and recorded double-digit kills in five matches. Oliver was also named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll on Nov. 22, 2021, after she tallied 10 kills and two blocks against Wichita State and 12 kills versus Tulsa.
Before joining the Bearcats, Oliver started her collegiate career at Clemson and finished the 2018 season with 125 kills and 66 blocks in 26 matches.
Bayless, a 6-1 outside hitter from Tulsa, Oklahoma, played for Regent Preparatory School and Oklahoma Peak Performance. During her high school career, she set new records with 2,119 Kills, 5.39 Kills per set and .314 hitting percentage. In 2021, she was an Under Armour All-American Camp Selection, named the Pinnacle Conference Most Valuable Player (MVP) and received First Team All-State honors. During her senior campaign at Regent, she tallied 740 kills, 267 digs, 77 assists, 61 aces and 18 blocks.
Kaminski is a 5-8 defensive specialist out of Blue Springs High School in Blue Springs, Missouri. She earned an AVCA All-Region Selection and was tabbed AVCA High School All-America Honorable Mention. The three-time Examiner Player of the year amassed over 1,200 digs and 1,000 kills during her career. She also was named to the first-team All-State, All-Conference and All-District three-times throughout her high school career.
A 6-1 middle blocker from Rosharon, Texas, Perkins played for Episcopal High School and Houston Skyline. In club ball with Houston Skyline, she ranked first in the nation in 2019 and fifth in 2021. Perkins amassed over 450 kills, 200 blocks, 70 solo blocks and 100 digs in her career. She also earned AVCA All-Region Selection in 2021.
Preston is a 6-2 outside hitter out of Union, Kentucky. where she competed for St. Henry District High School and Northern Kentucky Volleyball Club (NKYVC). With a decorated high school career, Preston amassed over 1,300 kills, 270 blocks and 400 digs, along with breaking St Henry District's all-time kill record in 2021. She was named to the AVCA High School All-America First-Team and AVCA All-Region Selection. As a senior, she earned Region and State Tournament MVP, named to the District All-Tournament Team and earned First Team All-State honors. As a freshman, she was a candidate for the 2018 PrepVolleyball.com Freshman of the Year and named to the KHSAA State All-Tournament Team.
A 6-2 outside hitter out of Charlotte, North Carolina, Shelton played for Ardrey Kell High School and Carolina Union Volleyball Club (CUVC). She earned AVCA All-Region Selection and AVCA High School All-America First-Team. During her career, Shelton amassed over 1,000 kills, 130 aces and 130 blocks. She also earned All-Region, All-State and All-Conference honors twice throughout her high school career.
Thompson, a 5-9 defensive specialist and libero from Tulsa, Oklahoma, played for Booker T. Washington High School and Oklahoma Peak Performance. She appeared in 199 sets and recorded 628 assists, 438 digs and 122 service aces during her high school career. Thompson averaged 3.2 assists, 2.2 digs and 0.6 aces per set.

GUESS WHO'S BACK
The Sooners return eight student-athletes from the 2021 roster, including sophomore trio Peyton Dunn, Callie Kemohah and Megan Wilson, who all were named to the All-Big 12 Rookie Team last season. The Sooners head to Fort Smith, Arkansas, to compete against Central Arkansas in an exhibition matchup next Friday, Aug. 19.
