Fourteen Sooners Earn Academic All-Big 12 Honors

NORMAN — Fourteen University of Oklahoma baseball student-athletes were named to the 2022 Academic All-Big 12 Team, the conference office announced Thursday. The Sooners were represented by 12 first-team selections and two second-team honorees.
OU's 14 Academic All-Big 12 selections tie the program record set last year. This marks the ninth consecutive year the Sooners have had at least six Academic All-Big 12 selections, and the third straight year OU has had at least 13 Big 12 academic honorees.
Oklahoma's 12 first-team Academic All-Big 12 selections are: senior Tanner Tredaway, redshirt juniors Ben Abram, Braden Carmichael, Jaret Godman, Diego Muniz and Brett Squires, redshirt sophomores Jake Bennett, Trent Brown, Jimmy Crooks, Kendall Pettis and Javier Ramos, and sophomore Carson Atwood. Bennett, Godman, Muniz, Pettis and Tredaway were first-team honorees in 2021.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher, either cumulative or over the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
First-team members consist of student-athletes who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second-team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
