FORT WORTH, Texas ā The Oklahoma baseball team scored four runs in the first inning and the pitching staff made them hold up, as the Sooners defeated No. 21 TCU 5-1 Sunday to clinch a Big 12 road series victory at Lupton Stadium.

The trio of
Cade Horton,
Carter Campbell and
Trevin Michael combined to strike out seven batters and held the Horned Frogs to six hits, all in the first five stanzas. Horton turned in his longest start of the season, going 4.2 innings. Campbell (2-0) and Michael (seventh save) combined for 4.1 hitless frames in relief. Michael went the final three, striking out five batters, including a filthy breaking ball for a called third strike and the final out of the game.

The Sooners (29-17, 11-7 Big 12) held on to the 4-0 lead until the fifth inning when TCU (28-18, 13-8 Big 12) scored a run.
Jackson Nicklaus broke some tension by banging an RBI double off the right field wall to bring the lead back to four.
Wallace Clark drew a bases-loaded walk,
Sebastian Orduno hit a two-run single and
Brett Squires singled home a run in the first inning.
Ā
"We set the tone offensively in the first inning and were grinding at bats all day long," Oklahoma head coach
Skip Johnson said. "Cade was really good. Getting some runs early helped him settle in. Campbell was really good for the innings he was in. Our bats got really, really good as the game went on. We only scored one run out of it, but that happens. You have to tip your cap to them for making big pitches. Trevin was outstanding at the end."

Oklahoma scored all four runs in the first inning with two outs.
Blake Robertson drew a walk,
Tanner Tredaway singled and
Jimmy Crooks walked to load the bases. Clark, Orduno and Squires followed with RBI at bats to put the visitors on top.
Diego Muniz drew a pinch-hit walk in the eighth inning and scored the insurance run on Nicklaus' double.
Ā
TCU scored in the fifth inning on an RBI double by Tommy Sacco. OU pitchers only allowed three other runners to reach second base in the game. Campbell got out of the fifth inning with a fielder's choice groundout and retired the side in order in the sixth. After a leadoff walk in the seventh inning, Michael came in and retired the side with a strikeout and two groundouts. He sat down the final five batters of the contest. Ā
