Sooners Earn No. 3 Seed in Big 12 Championship

NORMAN – The Oklahoma baseball team tied for second place in the Big 12 standings and will be the No. 3 seed in the 2022 Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship next week at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. OU will face No. 6 seed West Virginia at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
 
The Sooners (33-20, 15-9 Big 12) finished in a three-way tie for second place in the Big 12 conference standings and received the third seed by tiebreaker. OU, which was picked to finish sixth in the Big 12 preseason poll, won its final five series of the regular season and registered its most conference wins since 2010.
 
Oklahoma and West Virginia met last weekend (May 13-15) in Norman. The Sooners won the first and third games of that series. OU and WVU are matched in the bracket with No. 2 seed Texas Tech and No. 7 seed Kansas State, which meet at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
 
On the other side of the bracket, No. 4-seed Oklahoma State will face No. 5-seed Texas at 9 a.m. Wednesday and No. 1-seed TCU will play No. 8-seed Baylor at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
 
Tickets remain available for the event through TexasRangers.com/Big12, and all-session tickets for adults are $130 before fees. New in 2022 is a weekend pass, priced at $84 for adults, and single-day tickets run $30 for adults and $20 for youth and students.
