Sooners Fall at Wichita State Monday

WICHITA, Kan. – The Oklahoma baseball team dropped its final midweek contest of the season at Wichita State, 18-0, Monday night at Eck Stadium.
Kendall Pettis registered the only hit of the night for the Sooners (31-19) with a double off the left center field wall in the eighth inning, and made perhaps OU's best defensive play of the season. He made a highlight-reel catch to pull back a would-be home run over the left field wall in the third inning.
The Shockers (20-32) hit five home runs, scoring three runs in the third inning, six in the fourth and four runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Sawyre Tornhill went 5 for 6 with four RBIs and Payton Tolle tallied four hits and four RBIs for Wichita State.
Freshman Aaron Calhoun made his first career start for Oklahoma and went 2.1 frames. He stranded a pair of two-out hits in the first inning, then retired the side in order with one strikeout in the second.
The Sooners close out the regular season this weekend with a three-game Big 12 series at Texas Tech. Game times are 6:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday.
