NORMAN – The No. 2 Oklahoma women's tennis team will face No. 15 Stanford for the program's first Round of 16 appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

The Sooners (29-2) will host the Cardinals (19-5) on Friday, May 13 at 6 p.m. (CT).

Doors will open one hour before the match begins (5 p.m.) and a clear-bag policy will be in effect.

LAST TIME OUT

• Oklahoma met Bryant in the first round of the NCAA Tournament and delivered a 4-0 sweep to the Bulldogs. After claiming the doubles point, the Sooners only dropped one game in singles. Freshman Emma Staker took the first court win 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 6 spot, while senior Alexandra Pisareva and junior Layne Sleeth shut out their opponents 6-0, 6-0 on court five and one, respectively.

• The Sooners then went on to face the No. 17 Arizona State Sundevils in the Round of 32. Despite dropping the opening point, the Sooners bounced back in singles to punch their ticket to the Round of 16. There were a number of ties and lead changes throughout the duration of the match, leading to an intense top court battle for the chance to advance. The Sundevils headed into singles with the advantage and claimed the first court over OU's Dana Guzman to lead 2-0. The Sooners then claimed three consecutive courts. Junior Carmen Corley put OU on the board with a 6-3, 7-5 win on court two, while Staker tied the match 2-2 on court six with a 6-4, 6-2 victory. To take the lead, senior Ivana Corley came back from a 4-1 set two deficit to claim court three 6-4, 7-6 (7-2). The match was tied 3-3 after ASU secured a court five win over Pisareva. With a trip to the Round of 16 on the line, Big 12 Newcomer of the Year Sleeth came out victorious at the top court and secured the 6-4, 6-3 win.

SCOUTING STANFORD

• The Sooners and Cardinals have met once in program history, dating back to 2011's ITA Kickoff Weekend. Despite taking the doubles point, Oklahoma fell to the 2010 reigning champions 6-1.

• Stanford is the recent Pac-12 Tournament Champion and is one of only four programs to appear in all 40 NCAA Tournaments.

• No. 23 Alexandra Yepifanova, No. 26 Connie Ma and No. 113 Valencia Xu represent the Cardinals in singles rankings, while No. 19 Angelica Blake and Connie Ma highlight the team in doubles.
