AUSTIN — No. 1 Oklahoma took game one of the series at No. 18 Texas, 3-0, on Thursday in Austin.

Freshman Jordy Bahl was the star, striking out 15 Longhorns (30-11-1, 6-1 Big 12) in the complete-game shutout and allowing just four hits and one walk.

At the plate, three timely hits propelled the Sooners (37-0, 7-0) to victory. Sophomores Jayda Coleman and Alyssa Brito went yard for the sixth and eighth time of the season, respectively.

In the first, after sophomore Tiare Jennings reached via one of Texas' four errors on the night, senior Grace Lyons brought her home on an RBI single up the middle.

The Sooners doubled their lead in the second on a Coleman solo homer to center that bounced off the top of the wall and out.

After a pair of scoreless innings from both teams in the third and fourth innings, sophomore Alyssa Brito homered to left field to put the Sooners up three.

Bahl finished the job in the sixth and seventh with the Sooners putting just one baserunner on in each inning.

Texas threatened in the sixth, putting a pair on base with back-to-back hits. Bahl stranded them with three straight K's before stranding another one with a trio of strikeouts to finish the game in the seventh. The frosh stranded six on the night.

It was Bahl's fifth individual shutout of the season and OU's 22nd as a team.

The Sooners homered in their 31st game of the 37 on the year and had a multi-home run game for the 27th time.

All three of OU's hits on the night were RBIs, courtesy of Lyons, Coleman and Brito. Texas registered four hits, marking just the second time this season an opponent has outhit the Sooners.

The teams meet for game two of the series on Friday at 6 p.m. CT in Austin. The game can be seen via Longhorn Network and heard via 107.7 The Franchise in Oklahoma and nationwide on The Varsity app.
