FORT WORTH, Texas – Oklahoma women's golf concluded the shortened first day of the The Bruzzy tied for ninth at the Waterchase Golf Club.
Hannah Screen, Libby Winans and Maria Fernanda Martinez each finished the day tied for 30th.
Martinez led the Sooners with a 1-over 73 in the first round. The redshirt-junior tallied a pair of birdies on the back nine to start her first 18 and continued with a birdie to open the second round. Martinez nearly completed a clean scorecard on the front nine of the second round but finished her day with a bogie on the ninth.
Screen netted an eagle on the par 5, 525-yard 13th and concluded her first round with a 3-over over 75. The senior finished the second round with a 3-over 39 on the back nine and recorded a 2-over 30 with one hole remaining to end her day.
L. Winans opened her day with an up-and-down first round. She recorded a 2-over 38 on the back nine before concluding the round 7-over. The senior battled back and tallied five birdies in the second round to finish 4-over. She needs a pair of holes to complete the second round.
Mikhaela Fortuna and Meagan Winans each finished their day nine strokes over par. Fortuna recorded a 78 in the first round and netted three birdies on the back nine to open the second round. She tallied rounds of 78-75 to end the first day.
M. Winans opened the day with a 3-over 75 and tallied three birdies on the front nine. She completed a clean stretch through the first six holes of the second round.
