NORMAN –A trio of Oklahoma freshman swept the weekly Big 12 honors, the fourthĀ sweep by the Sooners in 2022. Jordan Bowers was named the Gymnast of the Week, Danae Fletcher the Event Specialist of the Week and Danielle Sievers the Newcomer of the Week.

Bowers was named the gymnast of the week for the second time this season and earned her sixth overall honor after being named newcomer of the week four times. Fletcher earned her first event specialist and third overall honor with two newcomer of the week accolades earlier in the season. Sievers picked up her fourth overall honor and her third newcomer of the week mention. A Sooner has now won newcomer of the week every single week this season.

All three were instrumental in helping lead the Sooners to a win over then No. 1 Michigan on Friday night and a quad-meet victory over TWU, Air Force and SEMOĀ on Sunday afternoon. Both Sievers and Bowers were part of the program-record breaking uneven bars squad on Friday night, while Fletcher debuted a new vault in the win.Ā

Bowers counted five scores of 9.950 or better over the weekend with two career highs set and one career high tied. In the first meet of the weekend, Bowers earned a perfect 10 on vault, the first of her career, to win the event title and set a new career high. Her perfect score was the third on vault by any Sooner and sixth of the year. Bowers is now just the fifth freshman in program history to earn a perfect score, joining teammate Olivia Trautman who was the last to do so in 2019. Bowers then set another career high on bars with a near-perfect 9.975. Her score helped the Sooners to shatter the program record on bars with a 49.825. On floor, she tied her career high with a 9.95 to post the second-highest score of the meet.

On Sunday, Bowers was nearly perfect once again on vault as she earned a 9.975. Bowers won the event title on vault as one of only two scores of 9.9 or better in the lineup. Bowers incredible vaults on the weekend propelled her to the No.1 spot in the nation, making her the second Sooner this season to hold the No. 1 spot on an event. On bars, she won her fourth event title of the weekend with a 9.950.

Fletcher had a career weekend as she debuted an upgraded Yurchenko 1.5 vault and stuck it for a career-high 9.95 against Michigan. The freshman had been training the vault for just a week before debuting it against the best vault team in the nation. Fletcher also won the event title on floor against the top-ranked floor team in the country with a near-perfect 9.975. Both marks were career highs for the freshman. On Sunday, Fletcher once again won the event title on floor as she earned a 9.925.

Sievers tallied five scores of 9.9 or higher on six routines performed and set two career highs in the process. Against Michigan, Sievers led off the program-record setting uneven bars lineup with a career-high 9.925. Sievers earned a 9.925 on floor to set her career high and added a 9.825 on vault.

As the anchor on vault on Sunday, her score of 9.9 pushed the Sooners over the 198-mark for the fifth time this season, the most in the nation. Sievers added a 9.900 on bars before tallying a 9.925 on floor for the second meet in a row. Sievers 9.925 on floor earned her a share of the event title as she helped the Sooners to their third-highest mark on the event in 2022.Ā

The Sooners will travel to Tempe, Ariz., for a tri-meet with Arizona State and Boise State on Friday. The meet is slated for an 8 p.m. CT start.
