NORMAN āĀ Five members of the No. 1 Oklahoma women's gymnastics team combined to secure eight regular season All-America honors from the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA).
Senior Carly Woodard, junior Ragan Smith, sophomores Audrey Davis and Katherine LeVasseur and freshman Jordan Bowers all received recognition from the association. Ā
Regular season All-America honors are based on an individual's final national qualifying score (NQS) prior to regional competition. First team honorees are ranked 1-8 nationally, and second team designees are ranked 9-16.
The Sooners had at least one gymnast recognized on every event and in the all-around and two gymnasts honored on three events.
Bowers, Davis and Smith paced the Sooners with two honors each. Bowers earned first-team honors on vault and second-team recognition on bars. The freshman finished the regular season ranked No. 1 in the nation on vault and No. 15 on bars.
Davis ended her sophomore campaign as the No. 2 gymnast in the nation to earn first-team honors for the second-straight season. The Oakland, Fla., native also picked up second team honors in the all-around for the first time.
Smith, the No. 1 ranked gymnast on beam, picked up first-team honors on the event along with second-team honors on floor. Smith was ranked 12th in the nation on floor to end the season.
LeVasseur earned first-team honors on vault to add to her second-team accolade on bars in 2021. Woodard garnered second-team beam honors for the second time in her career.
The Sooners will have the weekend off before regional competition in Norman, March 30-April 2. OU is the overall No. 1 seed for the NCAA Championships and will face No. 16 Arizona State, Arkansas and the winner or Arizona/West Virginia in the second round on March 31. Ā
