MESA, Ariz. –
Meagan Winans led the Sooners with a 4-under 68 and Oklahoma women's golf moved up to ninth after the Clover Cup second round at Longbow Golf Club.
Winans opened the day with a 1-under 33 on the back nine and started a streak of 3-consecutive birdies on the 18th. The freshman notched two birdies in her final five holes and recorded a 1-under 35 to finish her day.
Mikhaela Fortuna recorded four birdies in the second round and finished the front nine with a 1-over 37. She made the turn and responded with a clean first three holes, but fell back with a bogey on four. Fortuna responded with back-to-back birdies on the sixth and seventh holes, finishing her day with an even-par 72.
Hannah Screen entered the day as the OU leader and fired a 2-under 70 to remain in the top-5 of the field. Screen tallied five birdies in the round, including back-to-back birdies on the seventh and eighth.
Libby Winans (4-over, 76) and
Kaylee Vesely (7-over, 79) rounded out the OU lineup for the day.
Fortuna holds the 6th-best average on par 3s (2.88, -1) through the first 36 and Screen is seventh on par 4s (3.95, -1).
