NORMAN — University of Oklahoma men's gymnasts Zach Nunez and Emre Dodanli earned College Gymnastics Association awards Wednesday after an impressive win over No. 3 Nebraska over the weekend. Nunez notched his first career Co-Gymnast of the Week award while Dodanli took home his first career Rookie of the Week accolade.
Sophomore Zach Nunez took his first all-around title against No. 3 Nebraska with a career-high 82.850, tallying four career bests in individual events. He posted new career highs on floor (13.700), pommel horse (14.200), still rings (13.600) and parallel bars (13.700). Nunez notched a 14.200 on vault and capped the night with a 13.550 on high bar.
In the third meet of his collegiate career, freshman Emre Dodanli scored a 14.000 to start off the night for Oklahoma. His performance helped the Sooners to a season-high 69.700 score on floor, assisting in a 414.200-403.300 victory over No. 3 Nebraska.
Five Sooners head to Frisco, Texas this weekend to compete at Winter Cup at 6:30 p.m. CT Friday night.
