Sooners, Cyclones Set for Clash in Ames

NORMAN – Oklahoma (14-12, 4-9 Big 12) treks to Ames, Iowa to face Iowa State (17-9, 4-9 Big 12) Saturday, Feb. 19 at Hilton Coliseum.
The Sooners battled with No. 20 Texas Tuesday and dropped an overtime battle against the Longorns 80-78.
Oklahoma starters combined for 74 of OU's 78 points and were led by Elijah Harkless, who finished with 19 points on 6-for-13 shooting. Harkless tied his season high with five steals and added three rebounds in 41 minutes of action.
Jordan Goldwire tallied 18 points, Umoja Gibson 17 and Jalen Hill 16. Ethan Chargois wrangled a team-best nine boards in 29 minutes of action.

SCOUTING THE CYCLONES
- Iowa State (17-9, 4-9 Big 12) is coached by T.J. Otzelberger in his first season at the helm. ISU last played Feb. 15 and topped TCU 54-51 in Fort Worth, Texas
- Izaiah Brockington leads the Cyclones in points (17.2) and rebounds (7.7) per game. Brockington is also their team leader in minutes played per contest (34.2) and has a conference best seven double-doubles this season. Tyrese Hunter is the only other Cyclone to boast double-digit points per game (10.9) and is ISU's team leader in assists per game (4.3).
- Iowa State is 16th in the nation in 3-point field goal defense (29.2%) and turnovers forced (16.9). The Cyclones are also 21st in scoring defense (61.8), 23rd in total steals (223) and 35th in turnover margin (3.2).
OKLAHOMA VS. IOWA STATE TIDBITS
- Oklahoma and Iowa State will meet for the 213th time when the two programs clash Saturday. OU has won the five previous meetings against the Cyclones, including a 79-66 victory over ISU Jan. 8.
Oklahoma director of video operations and player development Clay Custer started his college career at Iowa State before transferring to Loyola Chicago to finish his career under Porter Moser.
In the March 2, 2013 meeting, Oklahoma finished with a NCAA record for free-throw percentage (min. 32 attempts, 34-for-34) against Iowa State. Romero Osby led the way and made 10 free throws, while Andrew Fitzgerald added eight.

- Jordan Goldwire averages a team-high 14.2 points per game in his last six games, bettering his season average by 4.0 points per contest (10.2 PPG). Against No. 8 Kansas, Goldwire tallied his first career game of 20 points and against No. 1 Auburn he led OU with 19 points. In the first 20 games of the season, Goldwire amassed 10 double-digit scoring games and in the last six games he has five 10-plus point games.
