OU Set for Battle at No. 8 Kansas

NORMAN – Oklahoma (14-10, 4-7 Big 12) travels to Lawrence, Kan., for a its second game against an AP top 10 team this week against No. 8/8 Kansas (19-4, 8-2 Big 12) Saturday, Feb. 12.
The Sooners played host to No. 9/9 Texas Tech Wednesday and earned their fourth victory over a team ranked in the top 15 of the AP Poll. The Sooners were led by Umoja Gibson and his season-high 30 points on 9-for-14 shooting. Gibson tied his career high with eight 3-pointers.
Elijah Harkless and Jordan Goldwire each finished in double figures with the trio of guards accounting for 53 of OU's 70 points. Harkless tallied 13 points, three rebounds and two steals and Goldwire added 10 points, four rebounds and four assists.
For fans attending the game Saturday, Douglas County and Lawrence, Kan., have a mask mandate and require all individuals to be masked while in Allen Fieldhouse. More information can be found here.

SCOUTING THE JAYHAWKS
- Kansas (19-4, 8-2 Big 12) last played Feb. 7 and dropped a Big 12 battle with Texas 79-76 in Austin. The Jayhawks had won their previous two games at Iowa State and against Baylor. KU is 11-1 at home this season.
- Ochai Agbaji leads the Big 12 and ranks 16th nationally in points per game (20.3) and was recently named to the Midseason Team for the Naismith Trophy Player of the Year. Agbaji is second in the conference and sixth nationally in 3-point field goal percentage (45.6%). Christian Braun joins Agbaji as the only other Jayhawk to average double-figure points (15.1).
- Kansas is first in the Big 12 and sixth nationally in field goal percentage (49.6%). The Jayhawks rank 20th in the NCAA in scoring offense (80.0), 25th in scoring margin (11.7) and 30th in assists per game (16.1).
KANSAS VS. OKLAHOMA TIDBITS
- Oklahoma and Kansas will meet for the 222nd time Saturday and Kansas holds a 79-17 advantage in games playe in Norman. Kansas won the last meeting between the two schools 67-64 in Norman Jan. 18, 2022.
- Oklahoma transfers and brothers Tanner and Jacob Groves burst on to the national scene with their showing against Kansas in the first round of the 2021 NCAA Tournament. T. Groves led the Eagles with 35 points on 11-for-18 shooting and 5-11 from three. J. Groves added 23 points on 8-for-11 shooting and 4-5 from three. The younger Groves added nine rebounds, while the elder added five rebounds and three blocks.
- Oklahoma and Kansas clashed in the 1988 NCAA Championship game with the Jayhawks earning the 83-79 victory. All five Sooners finished in double figures and were led by Dave Sieger's 22 points.
JUST NEED A SPARK
- Oklahoma earned its first victory of the season over a team ranked in the top 10 of the AP Poll Wednesday against No. 9 Texas Tech. It was the first victory over a team ranked in the top 10 since the Sooners beat then-No. 9 Alabama Jan. 30, 2021. Prior to their victory over the Crimson Tide, OU beat then-No. 9 Kansas (75-68) and then-No. 5 Texas (80-79), completing a three-game winning streak of teams ranked in the AP top 10.
