2022 OU Volleyball by the Numbers

With a young and hungry team, the Sooners posted their highest attendance record for a single match in program history, while building for future success with the No. 18Ā signing class for 2023.

Before we turn to a new year and the Aaron Mansfield era, we look back on what the Sooners accomplished in 2022.

The largest crowd in program history poured into McCasland Field House to watch the Sooners take on Texas on Nov. 12.

Student attendance increased by 2,663 (24.09%) in a single match from 2019 to 2022.

Attendance increased by 1,029 (36.5%) in a single match from 2019 to 2022 season.

Payton Chamberlain and Peyton Dunn each reached career milestones as they reached 1,000 career assists, respectively. Chamberlain is at 1,276 assists with two seasons left to play, while Dunn currently has 1,249 assists.

Signed No. 18 signing class for 2023, which is the fourth top-50 recruiting class since 2018 and third consecutive top-20 recruiting class overall.

Twelve records were etched into the program record book this season, including three team and nine from three individuals – Megan Wilson, Callie Kemohah and Morgan Perkins.

The Sooners posted their best non-conference record since 2013 with a 10-2 mark.

Wilson, Kemohah, Perkins, and Taylor Preston combined to earn seven Big 12 Weekly honors in 2022. Wilson, Kemohah and Perkins each earned two conference weekly honors this season.

The Sooners won seven matches inside McCasland Field House, the most home victories since 2019.

The Sooners finished in the top-five of five Big 12 statistical standings during the season: Third in hitting percentage and service aces and fifth in assists, blocks and kills.

Five Sooners individually finished in the top-10 of all seven Big 12 statistical standings in 2022: Chamberlain (assists), Kemohah (digs), Perkins (hitting percentage, blocks), Preston (kills) and Wilson (kills, service aces, points). Kemohah and Wilson led the league in digs and service aces. Perkins was the top freshman in hitting percentage and blocks.

Dunn, Kemohah, Kelsey Carrington, Savannah Davison and Grace Talpash all earned Academic All-Big 12 honors. Kemohah was one of nine sooners in the fall to earn a perfect GPA.

Perkins, Wilson and Alexis Shelton were all named to the All-Big 12 teams.

Wilson finished in the top-50 nationally in three major categories: aces per set (No. 9), service aces (No. 15) and points per set (No. 45).

Perkins, a freshman, was the only unanimous selection for OU and became the first Sooner in program history to win multiple All-Big 12 honors in the same season.

Wilson was named to the AVCA All-Southwest Region first team. The 2021 AVCA Southwest Region Freshman of the Year joins Guewe Diouf and Marion Hazelwood as the only Sooners in program history to earn AVCA Freshman of the Year honors and AVCA All-Region team accolades.

OU posted a .249 hitting percentage this season, finishing third in the Big 12 and 47th nationally.
