NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma men's gymnastics program welcomed five signees from the 2023 recruiting class in the early signing period beginning Wednesday.
Oklahoma head coach Mark Williams and the Sooners signed talented prospects from across the country in Max Bereznev from Woodstock, Ga., twins Colin and Tyler Flores from Mountain House, Calif., Nico Hamilton from Grapevine, Texas, and Taj Hajdu from Las Vegas, Nev.
"We're excited. As a class, they're going to be an asset to our team going forward," said Williams. "By signing Colin and Tyler Flores, Max Bereznev, Nico Hamilton and Tas Hajdu, we found a talented group who has a lot of potential and good resumes. We are looking for them to be able to quickly step in and assimilate to the system and continue their careers as college gymnasts."
OU head coach Mark Williams on Bereznev:
"Max Bereznev is very talented. His father, who was a gymnast himself, is coaching him in Georgia. You definitely can see some of the detail in his artistry from the Soviet background that his family comes from. Max is very talented and we're hoping to get him into our system and expand on his resume. I think he is a guy that will make an impact. He's a guy that made it to the U.S. Championships and is ready to step right into the next level."

OU head coach Mark Williams on T. Flores:
"Tyler Flores is an athlete who comes from a well-known program in California and had a very successful junior career, does high-level gymnastics. I'm really looking forward to coaching twins, that's pretty unique in our sport. They have coached each other all of their lives and to bring that to our program should be exciting and novel to add to our team. Tyler is also capable of helping score on any event."
OU head coach Mark Williams on Hamilton:
"Nico Hamilton is from one of my old assistant coaches, who is now at Texas Dreams. You can tell his development and basics is in the influence of how we like to coach. Nico made it to the Championships at a junior level so our task is to develop his difficulty. We certainly see the potential and talent in him."
OU head coach Mark Williams on Hajdu:
"Tas Hajdu had been on the Junior National Team in Hungary and trains in Las Vegas. His father was a gymnast as well. He's a guy who is a little bit more unknown but his skill level is very high. We're hoping to see him make an impact right away."
