Sooners Fall In Overtime On Road in Lubbock

LUBBOCK, Texas – Oklahoma fell 51-48 to Texas Tech in overtime on the road in Lubbock on Saturday night.
After Zach Schmit gave the Sooners a 48-45 lead on a 42-yard field goal with 4:04 remaining, Oklahoma's defense got the stop it needed near the end of the fourth quarter. Texas Tech, however, nailed a 43-yard field goal that sent the contest into overtime. But in the extra frame, Oklahoma (6-6, 3-6 Big 12) missed a 34-yard field goal, and the Red Raiders (7-5, 5-4 Big 12) made a game-winning 35-yard kick.
Starting quarterback Dillon Gabriel threw for 449 yards and a career-high six touchdowns, with Marvin Mims Jr. and Brayden Willis pulling in a pair of touchdown receptions. For Willis, it was his third game of the season to register multiple touchdowns and his seven receptions (for 74 yards) were a career high. All five of Mims' catches and 162 receiving yards came in the first half.
Theo Wease tallied a career-high 123 yards, highlighted by a 61-yard touchdown from Gabriel. Eric Gray ran for 161 yards on 28 carries, as the running back hit the 150-yard mark for the third time this season and the century mark for the eighth time.
Linebacker Danny Stutsman logged a career-high 18 tackles while defensive back C.J. Coldon notched 12 stops and his team-leading fourth interception. OU leads the Big 12 with its 16 interceptions this season.
The Sooners, who are bowl eligible for the 24th consecutive season, now await bowl selections, which will be announced on Sunday, Dec. 4.
