FORT WORTH, Texas – Oklahoma was knocked off by TCU 55-24 in Fort Worth on Saturday at Amon G. Carter Stadium. The defeat broke OU's eight-game winning streak against the Horned Frogs and gave the Sooners consecutive losses for just the second time since 1999.

The Sooners (3-2, 0-2) fell behind early and played the majority of the game without starting quarterback Dillon Gabriel, who left the contest due to injury with 9:39 remaining in the second quarter and did not return. He was

TCU scored on its first drive possession following an OU turnover and the Horned Frogs (4-0, 1-0) outscored OU 27-10 in the first quarter.

Freshman running back Jovantae Barnes ran for 100 yards on 18 carries, scoring twice to become the third Sooner this season to have two rushing touchdowns in a game. Barnes is the first OU freshman to run for two scores since Trey Sermon did so vs. Baylor in 2017. Gabriel completed 7 of his 16 passes for 126 yards before leaving the contest in the second quarter.

Senior running back Eric Gray scored Oklahoma's first touchdown after Gabriel found tight end Brayden Willis for a 78-yard reception to the TCU 1 yard line. It was OU's longest play of the season and Willis' longest career reception. Barnes notched his first career rushing score on a 20-yard carry in the second quarter, and scored on a 1-yard rush with 11:24 remaining in the game. Zach Schmit converted a 43-yard field goal in the first quarter, his third straight field goal of 40 yards or longer.

Oklahoma now sets its sights on the Red River Showdown vs. Texas, slated for Oct. 8 at 11 a.m. at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. The game will be televised by ABC.
