NORMAN – After earning its third victory over an AP top 15 team, (RV) Oklahoma (12-3, 2-1 Big 12) clashes with No. 21 Texas (12-3, 2-1 Big 12) Tuesday, Jan. 11 at Frank Erwin Center.
The Tuesday contest marks the 100th meeting between the two programs. OU holds a 57-42 advantage.
The Sooners last played Saturday, Jan. 8 and knocked off then-No. 11 Iowa State 79-66.
Despite being down four at the half, Oklahoma shot 81.8% (18-22) from the field in the second half to score 47 points. The Sooners closed the game on an 18-5 run and held Iowa State scoreless for nearly five minutes.
Umoja Gibson led the Sooners with a season-high 20 points. Gibson finished 10-for-10 from the free throw line and tied a program record with 37 consecutive free throws made. The Waco, Texas product has not missed from the charity stripe since he went 2-for-3 against ECU Nov. 18.

SCOUTING THE LONGHORNS
- No. 21 Texas (12-3, 2-1 Big 12) tallied its first two Big 12 wins over West Virginia and Kansas State before falling to Oklahoma State 64-51 Jan. 8. Prior to conference play, the Longhorns were on a four-game winning streak. UT is coached by Chris Beard in his first season as head coach in Austin.
- Texas' Timmy Allen is the only Longhorn to average double-figure points (11.9). Allen is also the team leader with 6.9 rebounds per contest. Tre Mitchell (9.9), Marcus Carr (9.7), Andrew Jones (9.6) and Courtney Ramey (9.2) all average 9.0-plus points per game.
- UT holds a 17.6 points scoring margin over its opponents. The Longhorns average 70.7 points per game, while shooting 46.4% from the field. Texas corrals 34.1 rebounds per contest (+4.1).
TEXAS VS. OKLAHOMA TIDBITS
- Oklahoma and Texas will meet for the 100th time when the two programs clash Tuesday. OU holds a 57-42 advantage. The two schools split their games last season and OU won the meeting in Austin 80-79.
- Oklahoma associate head coach K.T. Turner spent the 2020-21 season in the same position at Texas. Turner helped Texas to a 19-8 record and the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship. In the 2021 regular season finale against Oklahoma, Turner coached Texas after head coach Shaka Smart was unavailable due to COVID-19 protocols.
- In the Jan. 13, 1990 meeting, Oklahoma's Jackie Jones tallied a program record nine blocks against the Longhorns. The Sooners finished the game with a team record 14 blocked shots.
MOSER VERSUS AP TOP 15 TEAMS
- Porter Moser earned his third victory over an opponent ranked in the top 15 of the AP Poll Saturday, Jan. 8 after beating then-No. 11 Iowa State 79-66 at Lloyd Noble Center. OU had previously beaten then-No. 12 Arkansas 88-66 Saturday, Dec. 11 in Tulsa and then-No. 14 Florida 74-67 Dec. 1. The Sooners lone loss was at No. 1 Baylor 84-74 Jan. 4.
- Moser is the first Oklahoma coach to have three AP top 15 victories in his first 15 games and is only the second coach to have at least three such victories in their first season. Kelvin Sampson (1994-95) earned three victories against teams ranked in the top 15 and tallied five top 25 wins. The 1994-95 squad finished 23-9 overall and made the NCAA Tournament.
