NORMAN – For the second time this season freshman
Peyton Dunn has been named the Big 12 Conference Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Dunn was previously named rookie of the week during week two of the season. A Sooner has now won three weekly awards as
Callie Kemohah was named defensive player of the week on Sept. 14.
The Parker, Colo., native totaled 86 assists (10.75/set) over two matches on the weekend. Dunn's 86 assists were the third most by any Big 12 player. She was over the 40-assist mark in both matches with a weekend high of 44. Dunn has now recorded 40 assists in seven matches this season.
Dunn recorded a double-double in the first match of the weekend with 42 assists and 10 digs, her fourth of the season. The freshman also added six kills, 16 digs and 6.0 blocks.
Baylor's Avery Skinner was named the Offensive Player of the Week and West Virginia's Adrian Ell earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Dunn and the Sooners are back in action this weekend when they host Kansas State inside McCasland Field House. OU and K-State will face off on Friday at 5 p.m. and Saturday at 4 p.m.
