Kemohah Named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week

NORMAN – Oklahoma volleyball freshman Callie Kemohah was named the Big 12 Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Kemohah was named to the Georgia Tech Classic All-Tournament team after an impressive weekend. The freshman libero set a career high with 29 digs against Mississippi State on Friday. In that match, Kemohah averaged 7.25 digs per set.
Against Indiana and No. 21 Georgia Tech, Kemohah tallied 13 digs in each match to bring her weekend total to 55 for an average of 4.23 digs/set. Kemohah also picked up 10 assists, four service aces and two kills.
Kemohah is the first Sooner to be named Defensive Player of the Week since Brianna Kadiku in 2019. She is the second athlete to earn a weekly award in 2021, joining Peyton Dunn who earned Rookie of the Week honors in week two.
Texas' Skylar Fields was named the Offensive Player of the Week and Kansas' Caroline Bien earned Rookie Player of the Week honors.
Kemohah and the Sooners are back in action tonight at 5 p.m. at home against McCasland Field House.
