NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma men's and women's cross country teams begin their 2021 season Wednesday in Stillwater, Okla., at the Cowboy Preview.
The meet, held at the OSU Cross Country Course, will feature a 5K for the men and 3K race for the women's teams. The Sooners will feature seven women's runners and eight on the men's side.
The Sooners return to the course under the guidance of first-year associate head cross country coach Hannah Fields.
"We're really excited," said Fields about the start of the season. "This group has worked really hard over the past month or so. I've seen a lot of good signs that they're ready to get out there and compete."
"It's a relatively small meet, just OSU and Tulsa on the women's side and OSU, Tulsa and Utah Valley for the men," continued Fields. "That's been our key word for this meet, and for this season, is compete. I know they have what it takes and we're excited to show that off."
The Sooners return numerous contributors from their 2020 squads and will welcome plenty of fresh faces with a combined six newcomers. In OU's three meets of the shortened 2020 season, the Sooners combined for four team top-10 finishes.
No live stats will be available for the Cowboy Preview, results from the meet will be available on SoonerSports.com following the meet.
