Sooners Announce 2021 Schedule

NORMAN — University of Oklahoma Vice President and Director of Athletics Joe Castiglione and Head Volleyball Coach Lindsey Gray-Walton announced the 2021 OU volleyball schedule Monday.

The Sooners' slate includes 27 regular season contests and 12 matches at McCasland Field House.

"We are excited about the upcoming season and the competitive schedule we have put together for our team," Gray-Walton said. "It's one we believe will challenge our team and provide competitive matchups both home and away. Each year the goal is to win a championship: Big 12 or National. It's imperative that we build out a schedule that provides for championship opportunities. When you come to Oklahoma and show a desire to compete in the Big12, it's a sign that you're wanting and willing to take on the process of championship success. This fall is yet another opportunity for our program to make great strides towards the championship vision we have for Oklahoma Volleyball."

OU will begin the 2021 campaign on Aug. 27-29 by hosting Houston, Lipscomb and Oregon State in a tournament inside McCasland Field House. The following weekend, the Sooners will head to Spokane, Wash., for a tournament featuring host Gonzaga, Air Force and Seattle (Sept 3-5).

The final tournament of the non-conference slate will take place Sept. 10-12 in Atlanta, Ga., as the Sooners face Georgia Tech, Indiana and Mississippi State.

The Sooners close out non-conference play with a home match against Abilene Christian on Sept. 14 before heading to SMU on Sept. 16.

For the second consecutive season, the Big 12 will play a double round-robin format of 16 matches scheduled in eight double-headers. Competition against the same opponent will occur at the same site in consecutive days, unless extenuating circumstances. The host site for the series is reversed from last season's schedule. The team(s) that finishes with the highest winning percentage will be crowned the Big 12 champion.

OU kicks off Big 12 action at West Virginia (Sept. 24-25) and will face TCU (Oct. 8-9), Kansas (Oct. 29-30) and Texas (Nov. 11-12) all away from Norman.

Big 12 home matches include Kansas State (Oct. 1-2), Texas Tech (Oct. 15-16), Iowa State (Nov. 5-6) and Baylor (Nov. 23-24).

Four of OU's 2021 regular season opponents earned berths in the 2020 NCAA Tournament, including Georgia Tech, Lipscomb and conference foes Baylor and Texas.

McCasland Field House will operate at 100 percent capacity for the 2021 season. Fans will be able to purchase season tickets, including a courtside option, beginning Tuesday, July 13. Single-game tickets will go on sale to the public on July 27.
