OU Closes Day One of NCAAs

EUGENE, Ore. — Oklahoma's men's track and field teams capped day one of the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., Wednesday evening. Ā 

The day highlighted a first team All-American and an advancement to the final competition of the men's 400-meter hurdles.

Senior Rayvon Allen earned first team All-America honors in his NCAA Outdoor Championships debut. Allen represented the Sooners in the men's long jump, recording a mark of 25-2.75 (7.69m) to finish in eighth place. The senior is the first Sooner to earn All-America honors in the men's long jump since 2009.

On the track, redshirt junior Isaiah Levingston advancedĀ to the final of the men's 400-meter hurdles after clocking a time of 49.83. Levingston, the collegiate leader in the event, will take the track at 8:27 p.m. CT on Friday for the final.Ā 

The men's 4x400-meter relay squad finished 11th in the semifinal's competition. The team, consisting of freshman Salim Epps, senior Demarius Smith, Allen and Levingston, clocked a time of 3:07.47. They finished just two spots shy of the final qualification mark.Ā 

In the men's hammer throw, junior Bayley Campbell's season came to a close Wednesday afternoon. Campbell, the lone Sooner in the event, threw 216-1 (65.86m) to cap his season.Ā 

Qualifiers on the women's side will take the stage tomorrow, beginning with the 4x100-meter relay at 5:32 p.m. CT.Ā Live results for the championships can be found via Flash Results. The championships will be streamed on ESPN3, and broadcast information can be found here.Ā
