Levingston, Webb Up for Big 12 Athlete of the Year

NORMAN ā The Big 12 conference announced Oklahoma's nominees for the 2020-21 Big 12 Athlete of the Year awards on Friday. Track and field's Isaiah Levingston and women's gymnastics' Anastasia Webb will vie for the league's top athletics honors, with the winners announced July 6.
Fans will be able to vote for their male and female choices from July 2 until July 5 on Big12Sports.com. Fan voting will be considered in the final tally for selecting this prestigious award.
Oklahoma has produced 13 Big 12 Athletes of the Year, including an amazing nine in the last eight years. The Sooners have swept the awards three times, including the 2019-2020 season.
OU's Big 12 Athlete of the Year winners have been Jalen Hurts (2019-20; football), Maggie Nichols (2019-20; women's gymnastics), Kyler Murray (2018-19; football), Baker Mayfield (2017-18; football), Nichols (2017-18; women's gymnastics), Buddy Hield (2015-16; men's basketball), Paige Parker (2015-16; softball), Lauren Chamberlain (2014-15; softball), Keilani Ricketts (2012-13; softball), Sam Bradford (2008-09; football), Jason White (2003-04; football), Stacey Dales (2001-02; women's basketball) and Josh Heupel (2000-01; football).Ā

- Won three 2021 NCAA individual national titles out of five possible (vault, floor exercise and all-around) to become just the ninth gymnast in NCAA history to accomplish feat of winning three titles in one championship.
- Ā Also placed third on balance beam at 2021 NCAAs and seventh on bars to lead team to runner-up finish.
- Ā Named the 2021 Honda Sport Award winner for women's gymnastics (top athlete in the sport).
- Selected as the 2021 Big 12 Co-Gymnast of the Year and 2021 WGCA Region 4 Gymnast of the Year.
- Ā The five-time All-American won Big 12 titles in the balance beam and vault.Ā

- Set a then-school record in the men's 400-meter hurdles at the NCAA West Regional Prelims on May 29 (48.58).
- Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Champion in the men's 400-meter hurdles.
- Set facility records at E.B. Cushing Stadium in College Station, Texas (48.58 on May 29) and R.V. Christian Track in Manhattan, Kan. (49.12 on May 16).
- Held the fifth-best 400-meter hurdles time heading into USA Olympic Trials, and seventh-best time in the world.
