OU Punches NCAA Ticket, Heads to Gainesville

May 03, 2021 | Women's Tennis

NORMAN – The Oklahoma women's tennis team has earned a bid to the 2021 NCAA Women's Tennis Championships after an historic season that saw several records under head coach Audra Cohen.

"I'm so excited for this team and how much they've grown this season," said Cohen. "They've gotten better and better each match and they're really at the best point and peaking at the right moment going into the NCAA tournament."

The Sooners (15-6) will travel to the Gainesville Regional hosted by the University of Florida. OU will face USC in the opening round on May 7 while Florida and Siena square off on the other side of the bracket. The winners of the two matches will face each other on May 8 with the winner of that match to the Team Championships, conducted May 16-28 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla. The event will be hosted by the University of Central Florida and the Greater Orlando Sports Commission.

2021 marks OU's second NCAA tournament appearance under Cohen after the Sooners earned a bid in 2019 and advanced to the second round.
