Tyler Hardman registered six RBIs,
Brett Squires notched four hits and the Oklahoma baseball team rode four home runs and two-out rallies to a 16-2 victory over No. 19 Oklahoma State in the Bedlam Big 12 series opener Friday night at O'Brate Stadium.

The Sooners (21-19, 5-8 Big 12) scored five runs in the third inning, two in the fourth and seven runs in the fifth inning to storm ahead 14-0. The Cowboys (24-13-1, 7-9 Big 12) scored one run in the sixth and eighth innings before OU added two more in the ninth to reach the final margin. Fourteen of Oklahoma's runs were scored with two outs.

The top four batters in the Oklahoma lineup all homered.
Peyton Graham and
Jimmy Crooks went back-to-back in the fourth inning, Squires led off the fifth with an opposite-field shot and Hardman capped the frame with a three-run homer. Those four hitters combined for 10 of the team's 14 hits, 11 RBIs and 10 runs scored Friday night.

"The game started out as a tough matchup. Once we went through the lineup one time, we started separating balls from strikes," Oklahoma head coach
Skip Johnson said. "We got a couple of runs and kept the rally going with two outs and ended up getting five runs that inning. Wyatt made pitches when he had to make pitches, and the bullpen was good. We kept separating balls from strikes as we went through the game. I really thought it was a great plan."

Hardman broke open the scoring with his bases-loaded two-run single to left center field in the third inning. The hit sparked three more RBI singles ā by Squires,
Tanner Tredaway and
Diego Muniz ā as the Sooners jumped out to a 5-0 lead. All six of OU's hits in the inning, plus a walk by Crooks, came with two outs.

The home runs by Graham and Crooks in the fourth inning also came with two outs. Graham launched his seventh of the season to left field and Crooks smashed his eighth homer of the year to right center.

Squires began the fifth inning with an opposite-field homer to left ā his fourth of the season.
Justin Mitchell brought in a run with a sacrifice fly and
Conor McKenna hit an RBI single to make it a 10-0 lead. McKenna then scored on a throwing error when he was caught between third and home after a wild pitch. Hardman made it a 14-0 lead with his 10th homer of the season.

Oklahoma added two runs in the top of the ninth when Crooks was hit by a pitch and Hardman drew a walk with the bases loaded.

Hardman ended the game 2 for 5 with six RBIs and two runs scored, Squires went 4 for 6 with two RBIs and two runs and Graham was 3 for 5 and scored three runs.

Wyatt Olds (3-4) struck out five and allowed just one hit and one unearned run in 5.0 innings to earn the win. OSU starter Bryce Osmond (2-4) went 4.0 innings and took the loss.

The 16 runs scored Friday by Oklahoma were its most against Oklahoma State since a 21-6 victory in the 2006 Big 12 tournament. It was the most runs scored by the Sooners in a Bedlam conference game since 1985 (21-8 victory in the series opener in Stillwater).

The Bedlam series moves to Norman for the next two games. First pitch Saturday between OU and OSU is set for 3 p.m. at L. Dale Mitchell Park.
