OU Victorious at Final Home Meet of the Season

NORMAN — Oklahoma's men's and women's track and field teams closed out the 51st John Jacobs Invitational with 18 victories and a top-national mark in the men's 400-meter hurdles from redshirt junior Isaiah Levingston on Saturday at the John Jacobs Track Complex in Norman, Okla.

"I thought the day was great," head coach Tim Langford said. "In addition to the wins, we had some national-caliber performances. It is always great to win and compete well."

The Sooners' first win on the day came from senior Cooper Campbell in the men's shot put. Campbell recorded a mark of 18.94 meters to earn the victory. The senior was joined by redshirt senior Bradley Daboub in the top three, following Daboub's throw of 17.37 meters.

OU's second win of the meet came from senior Rayvon Allen in the men's long jump. Allen leaped 7.66 meters to secure the victory. The Sooners tallied back-to-back finishes with senior Garry Williams taking second. Williams recorded a mark of 7.10 meters.

In the women's pole vault, senior Abby Bilsbury and redshirt senior Sydney King finished first and second, respectively. Both Sooners cleared a height of 3.90 meters in the event.

On the track, sophomore Jordan Gledhill ran a 4:01.97 to win the men's 1,500-meter run. Gledhill was joined by freshman Fernando Morales and sophomore Lucas Badcock in the race. Morales took second with a time of 4:10.19, while Badcock finished third in 4:10.21. Gledhill's victory was good for the team's fourth.

The Sooners' fifth win on the day came from senior Jai'Lyn Merriweather in the women's 400-meter dash. Merriweather ran a 53.99, while sophomore Nia Sims ran a personal record 56.29 to finish fourth in the race.

Senior Lauren Jones tallied OU's sixth win, throwing 61.37 meters in the women's hammer throw. Sophomore Geraldine Udo finished fifth with a throw of 49.14 meters.

Oklahoma swept the hammer throw, following the men's performance. Junior Bayley Campbell finished first with a personal-best throw of 64.74 meters. Senior Edward Jeans took second with a mark of 63.88 meters.

On the track, redshirt senior Jackson Webb continued his 100-meter dash winning streak, running a 10.49. Webb was joined by junior Quoi Ellis and senior Joseph Sheffield in the top three. Ellis ran a personal best 10.57 to take second, while Sheffield finished in 10.67 to finish third. Sophomore Alajuwan Robinson finished two spots behind Sheffield, running a 10.77.

Senior Falyn Reaugh impressed in the high jump, clearing a personal-best height of 1.83 meters. Reaugh's mark improves from 10^th to a tie for second on OU's all-time top-10 list.

The Sooners swept the shot put following a victory from sophomore Payden Montana on the women's side. Montana threw 16.92 meters to earn the win. Second place went to junior Faith Ette with a personal best 16.72 meters. Jones notched the fourth-place finish, throwing 15.60 meters.

Sophomore Mikeisha Welcome took first in the women's triple jump, leaping 13.60 meters. One spot behind the sophomore was senior Essence Thomas, who jumped a mark of 13.45 meters. Junior Allanah Lee finished fifth with a mark of 12.56 meters.

Okla. native Levingston ran a personal best 49.32 in the men's 400-meter hurdles to secure OU's 12^th win on the meet. Levingston's win places him first in the nation in the event and second on OU's all-time top-10 list. Senior Jasher Foster took second with a personal record 52.29. The event was a sweep when senior Erin Huls ran a 1:00.79 to take first on the women's side of the event. Freshman Destini Jeter took second with a personal-record time of 1:03.66.

The Sooners' wins continued when junior Kennedy Blackmon took first in the women's 200 meters, clocking 24.09. Senior Ja'Leesa Giles finished second, running 24.17. OU swept the 200-meter dash following senior Demarius Smith's time of 21.01, securing him first. Junior Quoi Ellis went second with a 21.46, and senior Devaniel Dale finished fourth in 21.81.

Sophomore Madeline Medina and freshman Branch Cox swept the 5,000 meters, recording the Sooners' 16^th and 17^th wins on the day. Medina clocked a 19:05.86, while Cox ran a 16:19.44.

Senior Garry Williams jumped 15.68 meters to tally OU's 18^th and final win on the day. Allen claimed second with a jump of 15.43 meters.

In the javelin throw, senior Josh Haus and sophomores Kayla Kurtz and Crislyn Cole represented the Sooners. Haus finished second on the men's side with a throw of 60.54 meters. Kurtz threw 42.61 meters to finish second, while Cole took fourth with a throw of 34.37 meters.

The women's long jump was highlighted by two top-five performances with junior Symone Washington leading the way. Washington leaped 5.91 meters to take third, while senior Helena McLeod jumped 5.70 meters for fifth place.

On the track, OU's women's 4x100-meter relay took second, clocking a time of 45.55. The squad was made up of Deborah Giffard, Grace Posey, Ja'Leesa Giles and Kennedy Blackmon.

Sophomores Carson Hockersmith and Madeline Acosta finished back-to-back in the women's 1,500 meters. Hockersmith ran a 4:52.51, while Acosta finished in 5:07.41.

In the men's 400-meter dash, freshman Salim Epps and senior Devaniel Dale went back-to-back, finishing second and third, respectively. Epps clocked 47.28, while Dale ran a 47.79.

Senior Camri Austin clocked 13.62 in the women's 100-meter hurdles, taking second. In the women's 100-meter dash, Blackmon ran 11.60 to finish third, while Giles clocked an 11.88 to take fourth.

In the women's 800 meters, junior Jordyn Kaplan took second with a 2:13.46. Kaplan was joined by junior Alison Hepp in the top five, finishing in 2:19.51 for fifth place. On the men's side of the event, junior Johnelle Joe clocked a 1:53.78 to finish second. Sophomore Graham Santilli clocked 1:54.31 to finish fourth, while senior Derek King took fifth in 1:54.76.

In the men's high jump, a trio of Sooners went back-to-back-to-back, finishing in second, third and fourth. Redshirt junior Vernon Turner took second, clearing 2.19 meters. Junior Chris Banks took third with a height of 2.02 meters, and freshman Keith Drapeau took fourth, clearing 2.02 meters.

Senior Lucas Kelley cleared 4.55 meters in the men's pole vault, finishing in third.

Parlin recorded his second personal record on the day, throwing 51.91 meters in the men's discus. Daboub took third with a mark of 51.46 meters. On the women's side of the event, Jones threw 51.64 meters to take second, while Montana threw 50.10 meters for fourth.

Action finished on the track with the 4x400-meter relays. On the women's side, the squad, made up of Kaplan, Hepp, Acosta and Hockersmith, finished in fourth with a time of 4:06.93. The men's team also took fourth, clocking 3:28.36. The men's squad consisted of Gledhill, redshirt junior Johnelle Joe, King and Santilli.

OU honored it's 24 student-athletes in the senior class, as well as junior Kristo Simulask who was awarded the men's 2020 Owen Hewett award.
