The meet came down to the sixth and final rotation, with the Sooners clinging to a lead of just over three-tenths over Stanford with the Sooners heading to high bar and the Cardinal on still rings. OU put up a respectable 66.832 but the Cardinal registered a 70.097 on rings, giving them the title by a slim margin of 2.93.

Junior Vitaliy Guimaraes led the Sooners on high bar with a fourth-place, All-America-earning 13.800.

Guimaraes (82.164) placed fourth in the all-around to claim his second All-America honor of the meet. Junior Spencer Goodell finished the all-around with a 78.598.

The Sooners conclude the 2021 season with a record of 17-2-1 and as MPSF conference champions and national runners-up. Team captain Gage Dyer completed this season with nine event titles and claimed two national titles and the College Gymnastics Association Event Specialist of the Year award. The senior was also named a regular season All-American by the CGA.

"I was thrilled for him, said Williams. Floor is all about landings and he stuck all of them. When he stuck his dismount, I knew he won it. It was his career-high and I think that it could hold up in a world championships."
