Women's Tennis Hosts OSU, UCF

April 01, 2021 | Women's Tennis

NORMAN – No. 33 Oklahoma is set for two matches this weekend, hosting No. 41 Oklahoma State in a Friday Bedlam clash and No. 16 UCF on Sunday for the final non-conference contest of the season.

Friday's match with OSU will be broadcast on Bally Sports Oklahoma and streamed on the Fox Sports GO app.

Matchday Storylines

• OU (9-5) continues Big 12 play on Friday at home with No. 41 Oklahoma State, then meets No. 16 UCF in a non-conference clash on Sunday.

•  A win over OSU on Friday would be OU's first since 2014. The Cowgirls lead the all-time series 39-21.

• The Sooners split last weekend's conference matches, routing No. 40 TCU 6-1 before narrowly falling to No. 32 Texas Tech in a four-hour marathon 4-3 as the last match on went to a third set. Despite the loss, OU picked up ranked wins in both singles and doubles: Carmen and Ivana Corley grabbed a 6-2 win over Tech's No. 45 Kaitlin Staines and Lisa Mays in doubles, then freshman Dana Guzman ran past No. 75 Staines 6-0, 6-2 for her second ranked win of the season.

• OU had a huge week in the ITA rankings. As a team, the Sooners are No. 33 nationally while four individuals – a program high under head coach Audra Cohen - checked into the singles rankings: No. 80 Dana Guzman; No. 91 Ivana Corley; No. 97 Carmen Corley; and No. 109 Marcelina Podlinska.

• The Corley sisters are No. 11 in doubles, good for the highest ranking for an OU doubles team in program history. The duo surpassed their former teammates Jasmine Asghar and Oleksandra Korashvili, who were ranked as high as No. 12 during the 2020 season. Additionally, the duo is second among Big 12 teams behind only No. 7 Kylie Collins and Lulu Sun of Texas.
