OU Battles, Falls Short to No. 6 Texas

NORMAN — No. 28 Oklahoma fell to No. 6 Texas 4-3 Sunday afternoon at the Headington Family Tennis Center in the second of two ranked matchups on the weekend.
The Sooners secured the doubles point and notched singles victories from Mason Beiler and Jake Van Emburgh.
In doubles, Van Emburgh and Matt Rodriguez claimed a victory over UT's Payton Holden and Jacob Bullard 7-5 at the No. 3 spot before Sooners Beiler and Max Stewart fell 6-1 against Cleeve Harper and Micah Braswell on court two to send the point to be decided at the top spot. There, Alex Martinez and Nathan Han clinched the point as they took out Chih Chi Huang and Eliot Spizzirri 6-4.
In singles play, ITA No. 69 Beiler gave OU its second point with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Cleeve Harper at the No. 3 line.
On court one, Van Emburgh took the action to three sets, securing the win over No. 120 Eliot Spizzirri 7-5, 6-7 (3), 6-1.
Max Stewart fell to Nevin Arimilli 6-2, 6-3 on court six. At the No. 2 spot, Martinez fell to UT's Micah Braswell 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. Han took his match to three sets but fell 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 on court four. Action came to a close when Justin Schlageter dropped his three-set match, 7-6 (6), 5-7, 7-5 on the five spot.
