NORMAN – The Oklahoma volleyball team dropped its season finale, 3-1, to TCU Saturday afternoon inside McCasland Field House.
TCU took the match, 28-26, 18-25, 25-21, 25-20. The Sooners narrowly outhit the Horned Frogs, .185-.184, but TCU held the advantage with 54 kills to OU's 51. TCU also led in assists (52-45). OU out-dug the Frogs, 64-56.
Sanaa Dotson had a stellar night as she notched 26 kills to go with 12 digs for her second double-double of the weekend. Senior
Sarah Maras added seven kills of her own to go with five digs.
Sophomore
Olivia Curtis notched 29 assists and added five kills and five digs.
Defensively, the Sooners notched 10.0 blocks to TCU's 11.
Sabrina Simms,
Tyler Alcorn and
Kelsey Carrington each got in on five blocks on the night.
Keyton Kinley led the way with 17 digs while
Sam Anthony chipped in 13.
Aysia Harty added nine digs and
Grace Talpash notched six. Talpash also tallied seven assists on the day.
The first set went the way of the Horned Frogs, 28-26. The teams traded points for most of the match with 14 ties and eight lead changes occurring. OU had match point at 25-24, but the Frogs would come back to make it a 26-26 game. An ace from Audrey Nails secured the first set win for TCU.
Set two went to the Sooners as they led wire-to-wire. OU started the set on an 8-1 run and never led by less than six for the remainder of the match. The Sooners capitalized on a service error from TCU to take the first set, 25-18.
The teams played a close third set that saw nine lead changes and two ties before TCU took the set, 25-21. In the final set the Sooners battled tough to start until the Frogs used a 13-5 run to put the set and the match away, winning the final set 25-20.
