NORMAN — The No. 1 Oklahoma softball team completed the exhibition series sweep over Team Mexico Sunday afternoon, winning the third and final game in run-rule fashion, 12-3.

The Sooners tallied 15 more hits in the third game of the series to bring their weekend total to 43 versus the Mexican National Team. Oklahoma won game one 11-0 on Friday before a 2-1 victory Saturday on a walk-off RBI from Tiare Jennings. OU outscored the Olympic squad 25-4 over the series.

Game three saw Mexico take its first lead of the weekend on an RBI single from Chelsea Gonzalez in the first inning that plated OU alum Sydney Romero following Romero's leadoff double.

Oklahoma responded with six runs in the bottom of the first. Jennings launched a leadoff home run to center field prior to an RBI single from Taylon Snow, a two-RBI bunt from Jayda Coleman, an RBI double from Lynnsie Elam and RBI single from Nicole Mendes to make it 6-1, Sooners after one.

Coleman collected two more RBIs in the bottom of the second on a double to left field.

Mexico got a pair of runs back in the third courtesy of solo shots from Sashel Palacios and Tori Vidales.

After a scoreless third and fourth, OU exploded for four more runs in the fifth inning to run rule Team Mexico. Following a solo home run from senior Jana Johns, junior Grace Lyons blasted a three-run shot to left field to walk it off in mercy-rule fashion.

Coleman went a perfect 3-for-3 on the day with four RBIs, a stolen base and some spectacular defensive plays from center field, while Lyons finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs on her solo home run. Jennings and Johns both collected two hits in three at-bats with one RBI.

Eight Sooners recorded at least one hit in game three, with five players registering two or more and seven Sooners batting in at least one run.

Four OU pitchers saw action Sunday with redshirt senior Giselle Juarez collecting the win in the circle after a two-inning, three-strikeout performance. Juarez surrendered four hits and just one earned run in the game. Freshman Nicole May (1.2 IP) and sophomores Macy McAdoo (0.1) and Olivia Rains (1.0) combined to close the game. May gave up two runs on two hits while Rains struck out one in the fifth.

The top-ranked Sooners open Big 12 conference play March 26-28 in Ames, Iowa, with a series against RV/RV Iowa State.
