March 10, 2021 | Women's Basketball

NORMAN – Junior guard/forward Madi Williams has been chosen as a unanimous first team All-Big 12 selection, while junior guard Taylor Robertson has been named to the conference's second team and freshman guard Nevaeh Tot was tabbed to the All-Freshman team, the Big 12 announced Wednesday.

The honors were voted on by the league's head coaches, who are not allowed to vote for their own players.

Williams becomes the first OU player to earn First team All-Big 12 honors since Vionise Pierre-Louise in 2018. The junior finished the regular season averaging 19.9 points per game to rank sixth among Big 12 players and 30th nationally.

Her 49.5% (163-for-329) field goal percentage places her fifth among Big 12 players, first among the league's guards and 14th among all guards nationally.

On Jan. 3, Williams set the OU single-game scoring record when she tallied 45 points on 17-for-30 shooting. The previous record of 43 points, set by current OU assistant coach Courtney Paris, had stood since 2006.

Her 45 points on Jan. 3 stand as the most in a Big 12 game this season. At the time, Williams' performance was good for the most in an NCAA women's basketball game and is now tied for the fourth-most points in a single game this season.

Williams scored in double figures in 16 of 17 games this season with 20 points or more in eight of those contests. Williams had a streak of four straight games with 21 points or more down the stretch in Big 12 play. The Fort Worth, Texas, native became the 38th member of OU's 1,000 points club on Jan. 23 as she logged 29 points at Baylor.

This is the first Big 12 end of season award for Williams, who was a 2020-21 Preason All-Big 12 honoree.

A second-team selection, Robertson has played the most minutes of any Big 12 player this season, averaging 38.0 per game. She has played 15 40-minute games this season and averaged 15.7 points per game.

The McPherson, Kan., native has once again led the conference and the nation in 3-point shooting. She has nailed 80 3-pointers this season to rank first in the Big 12 and sixth in the nation. Her 47.7% (80-for-185) 3FG% ranks second among Big 12 players. Robertson has averaged 3.62 treys per game to lead the Big 12 comfortably (the next closest player has averaged 2.71 per game) and rank fifth nationally.

Robertson is the NCAA active career leader in 3s per game (3.89), ranks third in total 3-point field goals (311) and second in career 3-point field goal percentage (44.0%).

The junior logged a season-high eight 3-pointers on 15 attempts at Iowa State to set the Hilton Coliseum record for most 3s made by an opponent. Robertson has had seven games this season with at least 5 3-pointers and has it at least one in 20 of 21 contests in 2020-21.

Robertson has been almost perfect from the free throw line this season, shooting 554-for-55. Her first miss of the season came on March 1, and until that point, Robertson had hit 60 straight dating back to February 2020 to capture the Big 12 consecutive free throws record.

This is the third Big 12 end of season award for Robertson, who was an honorable mention in 2020 and a freshman team selection in 2019.

Freshman honoree Tot has made an immediate impact for the Sooners, starting 19 games and playing an average 31.4 minutes per contest. Tot has averaged 6.8 points per game and 3.3 rebounds. Most notably, Tot has averaged 4.3 assists per game, totaling 100 on the year to place fifth on OU's freshman assists list. Her 4.3 APG places her fifth among Big 12 players, second among Big 12 freshman and eighth among all freshmen nationally.

Tot has recorded 12 games with at least four dimes. Additionally, her assist/turnover ratio (100-60) has ranked in the Big 12's top 15 all season and Tot has been one of just two freshmen in the league's top 10 this year.

Tot dished 11 assists against UAPB (Dec. 29) tied for the second most by a Big 12 player in a single game in 2020-21 and the fifth-most in a Division I women's basketball game this season.  Tot's 12 point, 11 assist performance against UAPB also marked the first time a Sooner had recorded a double-double with points and assists since Morgan Hook in 2013.

Tot also became the 14th player in program history to have a 10 or more assists in a game and her performance was the 51st game in which a player logged 10 or more dimes.

The Sooners begin the Phillips 66 Big 2 Women's Basketball Championships on Friday as the No. 6 seed. Oklahoma will take on No. 3 seed Oklahoma State in a Bedlam quarterfinal at 8:30 p.m. CT inside Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo. The game will be broadcast on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
