Diouf Named Rookie of the Week

NORMAN – Oklahoma outside hitter Guewe Diouf has been named the Big 12 Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season, the conference announced Wednesday.

This is the fifth total honor for Diouf in 2020 after also earning an Offensive Player of the Week award in the fall. She is the first Sooner to win five awards in a season since 2013 when Sallie McLaurin was named Offensive Player of the Week five times.

Diouf notched 41 kills over the Sooners' two matches to extend her streak to nine straight matches with double digit kills. The freshman has tallied 10+ kills in all but one match this year. Her 23 kills last Friday marked the fourth time this season she has posted 20 or more. In the win at TCU, she averaged 7.67 kills per set.
