Volleyball Announces Spring Slate

NORMAN – The Oklahoma volleyball team announced its spring schedule Tuesday, a slate that features four series with Big 12 opponents and a singular match with North Texas.

The Sooners will see a pair of Big 12 opponents for the second time in the 2020-21 season in Texas and Baylor. After matches with TCU and Iowa State were postponed in the fall, OU will see both teams for the first time this season. Seven of the Sooners' nine spring matches will take place on the road.

Similar to the fall, the Sooners will open their spring schedule with a pair of matches against No. 2 Texas. The two teams will face off in Austin, Texas, at an offsite location on Friday, Feb. 26, and Saturday, Feb. 27. Both matches are set for 2 p.m. starts.

The Sooners will travel to Denton, Texas, to face North Texas on Thursday, March 4, at 5 p.m. in the lone non-conference match of the season.

OU will travel down to Waco, Texas, to face No. 6 Baylor on Sunday, March 7 and Monday, March 8. After a weekend off, the Sooners will face Iowa State in Ames, Iowa. The two teams will play Friday, March 19 and Saturday, March 20.

The final matches of the spring slate will take place inside McCasland Field House. OU will host TCU on Friday, March 26 and Friday, March 27. Both matches are slated for 5 p.m. starts.

Led by third-year head coach Lindsey Gray-Walton, the Sooners returned 13 student-athletes from the 2019 squad and added transfer Grace Talpash and freshmen Tyler Alcorn, Sam Anthony, Kelsey Carrington and Guewe Diouf. The Sooners finished the 2020 fall season with a 3-9 record and wins against Kansas and West Virginia.

The 2020 NCAA Tournament selection show is set for Sunday, April 4, and will be reduced to 48 teams instead of the usual 64. Due to COVID-19, the entire NCAA Tournament will take place in Omaha, Neb., from April 13-24.
