FIVE THINGS TO KNOW
- OU will look to split the 2020-21 series with Baylor as the Lady Bears come to Norman Sunday. The game, originally scheduled for Feb. 20, was moved due to inclement weather. The contest will be OU's annual Play 4 Kay pink game for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
- The Sooners will also look for their third straight win after downing Iowa State 67-61 at home on Feb. 9 and No. 19/21 West Virginia 72-71 on Feb. 13 in Morgantown. OU's last two wins have come by a combined seven points as the Sooners have used fourth quarter pushes to put away their opponents.
- Madi Williams was named Big 12 Player of the Week after she averaged a double-double of 24.0 PPG and 10.5 RPG in OU's two wins last week. Against Iowa State, Williams scored 27 on 13-for-21 (61.9%) shooting and collected 13 rebounds for a double-double. The junior scored 21 at West Virginia and nearly had a triple-double as she also pulled down eight rebounds while dishing eight assists.
- Williams (21.7 PPG) has had a series of monster games for the Sooners down the stretch in Big 12 play. Williams has led the team in the three main categories of points, rebounds and assists in each of its last two games and led the team in both points and rebounds over the last four. The junior has scored 20 points or more in each of the last three games, including back-to-back 25+ points games against Oklahoma State (29) and Iowa State (27).
- Junior Taylor Robertson broke the Big 12 record for most consecutive made free throws as she nailed her 45th straight at West Virginia on Saturday. Robertson is 35-for-35 this season and her streak dates back to Feb. 22, 2020.
PLAY 4 KAY
Named for Kay Yow, former NC State head women's basketball coach, The Kay Yow Cancer Fund is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization committed to being a part of finding an answer in the fight against women's cancers through raising money for scientific research, assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause.
Each year teams across the nation host a Play4Kay game to raise awareness and raise money to fight women's cancers as well as honor survivors. Prior to Sunday's game, OU selected five women in the Norman/OKC area for the Our Star Experience. These women were presented with a gift from OU basketball in a COVID-safe way and met with Coach Coale and the team over Zoom prior to the game. They will be introduced on the video board with OU's starting lineup.
Since 2012, head coach
Sherri Coale has been a member of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is comprised of colleagues from the women's basketball world, distinguished physicians, respected business leaders, prominent media representatives, and allies in the fight against all cancers affecting women.
