NORMAN – After a record-breaking week where she led the Sooners to a come-from-behind win over Utah, OU women's basketball guard Taylor Robertson was named the Big 12 Player of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Robertson, who became Oklahoma's (10-1) all-time 3-point leader in the win over Utah, becomes the second Sooner to earn the Big 12's weekly accolade this season, joining Ana Llanusa (12/6). It's Robertson's fourth Big 12 Player of the Week honor of her career and she pairs it with her four Big 12 Freshman of the Week honors that she earned in 2018.
The McPherson, Kan., product scored 19 points in the Sooners' lone win of the week over the Utes, hitting five of her 10 shots, including four 3-pointers. Her final trey of the night broke Aaryn Ellenberg's school record of 376 career 3-pointers. The senior added two rebounds, two assists and two steals in the win.
The Sooners close the 2021 calendar year with five weekly accolades as Robertson and Madi Williams were the league's top weekly player twice and Llanusa claimed the honor once. Oklahoma was the only school in the conference to have three different student-athletes win the weekly honor and the program's five honors this year were more than any other school.
Robertson and the Sooners are scheduled to return to the floor Wednesday, Dec. 29, when they host Wichita State in Norman. The game will be broadcast on Bally Sports Oklahoma Plus at 6 p.m.
