NORMAN – The 17th-ranked Oklahoma wrestling team fell to No. 4 Oklahoma State by a score of 31-3 at the Lloyd Noble Center on Sunday.

"I'm disappointed in our effort. We have to get tougher and give more every day at practice," head coach Lou Rosselli said. "We have to work on our mentality and our environment to make sure we understand what it takes to win."

Heavyweight wrestler Josh Heindselman was the lone Sooner to take home a victory on Sunday. The Piedmont, Okla., native defeated No. 30 Luke Surber thanks to a takedown in sudden victory to remain unbeaten in Bedlam matches in his career, improving to 4-0 against the Cowboys.

"He did a nice job and got himself a win. It has everything to do with effort," Rosselli added. "Josh [Heindselman] has a workmanship mentality and if he continues on that path, I think you'll see him in the later rounds at Big 12s and nationals."

Redshirt senior All-American Dom Demas made his season debut for OU on Sunday night, wrestling at 149 pounds in a 9-3 decision loss to No. 20 Kaden Gfeller. Joey Prata (125 pounds), Justin Thomas (157 pounds) and Jake Woodley (197 pounds) all fought vs. ranked opponents, but came up just short as the three couldn't land the takedowns needed to win in the final period.

The Sooners (2-2, 2-1 Big 12) next take the mat in just over a month when they travel to Hampton, Va., to compete in the Virginia Duals Jan 14-15.
