OU's 2022 Football Schedule Finalized

NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma's 12-game 2022 regular season football schedule was finalized Wednesday with release of the Big 12 Conference slate.
OU will start the season with three non-conference games, beginning with Sept. 3 and Sept. 10 home matchups against UTEP and Kent State, respectively. The Sooners have won all four of their meetings with UTEP and have never played Kent State. A Sept. 17 contest at Nebraska will mark their first game in Lincoln since 2009. OU beat the Huskers 23-16 this season in Norman and leads the all-time series 46-38-3.
Oklahoma opens Big 12 play Sept. 24 at home against Kansas State before traveling to face TCU on Oct. 1.
The annual Red River Showdown against Texas is scheduled for Oct. 8 in Dallas, as the Sooners will go for their fifth straight win against the Longhorns and 11th in 14 meetings. OU will be the designated home team at Cotton Bowl Stadium.
The October schedule also includes a home game vs. Kansas on the 15th, a bye on the 22nd and Thursday contest at Iowa State on the 27th. It will mark OU's first regular season Thursday game since it beat the Cyclones 34-24 in Ames in 2016.
The Sooners return home for a Nov. 5 tilt against Baylor, travel to face West Virginia on Nov. 12, host Oklahoma State on Nov. 19 and close the regular season at Texas Tech on Nov. 26.
The top two finishers in the regular season standings will compete for the conference title in the Big 12 Football Championship, which is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 3, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The Sooners have won the last six Big 12 titles.
Television selections for the first three weeks of the 2022 season and special dates are due to the Conference by June 1.
