NORMAN — University of Oklahoma men's gymnastics head coach Mark Williams announced the signing of a pair of talented recruits on Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period.
The Sooners inked Ignacio Yockers of Tulsa, Okla., and Leo Koike of Saitama Prefecture, Japan. Both will be OU freshmen during the 2022-23 school year.
"I'm excited about having both of them as a part of our team," said Williams. "I expect both Ignacio and Leo to make a contribution to our team right away."
OU head coach Mark Williams on Yockers:
"Ignacio is a U.S. Junior National Team member, a Merit Scholar finalist and he comes from Tulsa, so he's a local recruit we wanted to keep here at home. He's tremendous on pommel horse. He's very clean and does very well-executed gymnastics."
OU head coach Mark Williams on Koike:
"Leo is a gymnast that is actually training in Japan at the moment but is a U.S. citizen. He has tremendous potential as an all-arounder and we're excited to have him here in Oklahoma."
