NORMAN – In the final match of the regular season, the Oklahoma volleyball team fell to No. 7 Baylor in straight sets, 12-25, 19-25, 23-25.
Peyton Dunn came close to tallying 1,000 assists in her freshman campaign as she tallied 23 to end with 997 on the season.
Megan Wilson led the team with 11 kills on the night.
Kristen Birmingham and
Savannah Davison each chipped in five.
Abby Butler made her first appearance of the season and led the team with five blocks.
Paige Anderson added five blocks as well. Birmingham added four blocks with Dunn getting in on four.
Aysia Harty led the squad with nine digs on the night, followed by six each from
Callie Kemohah and
Olivia LittleJim.
Baylor took set one, 25-12. In set two, the Sooners trailed 9-8 after a block from Dunn and Anderson. OU pulled even at 11-all and took their first lead of the set after a Baylor error. Baylor tied the match and took back the lead, 15-12, at the media timeout. The Sooners pulled back within two at 17-15 on a block from
Abby Butler and
Kristen Birmingham. Baylor used an 8-4 run to close out the set and take it, 25-19.
The Bears led 6-5 in the third set after a block from Birmingham and Butler. A LittleJim ace made it 11-9 before a run had Baylor leading 15-10 at the media timeout. Dunn served three-straight points out of the break to pull the Sooners within two. A 7-2 run by OU tied the match at 17-all. The teams traded points, reaching a tie again at 20-all. Baylor took the final set, 25-23, to take the match.
