NORMAN – Oklahoma wraps up its time at the inaugural Bad Boy Mowers Women's Battle 4 Atlantis on Monday when it takes on Minnesota in the fifth-place game. A win would give the Sooners their best start since the 2016-17 season when the team started 5-0.
ON THE AIR
The game is slated for a 4 p.m. CT tip and will be broadcast on Flo Hoops. Fans can tune into the Sooner Sports Radio Network with Taylor Maples on the call on KOKC 1520 AM (OKC) and KREF 99.3/1400 AM (Norman).
THE STARTING FIVE
- The Sooners enter Monday's game following a 93-72 drumming of Buffalo where OU sunk 15 3-pointers, led by Taylor Robertson, whose nine made treys tied her school record. In addition, Madi Williams notched the 15th double-double of her career, Skylar Vann poured in 12 points and eight boards, and Kelbie Washington dished out seven assists.
- Monday's game brings the Bad Boy Mowers Women's Battle 4 Atlantis to a close. The Sooners were chosen to participate in the event, completing a field that includes No. 1 South Carolina, No. 2 UConn, No. 9 Oregon, No. 23 South Florida, Minnesota, Syracuse and Buffalo.
- Minnesota (4-2, 0-0 Big Ten) defeated Syracuse 70-63 on Sunday to earn a spot in the fifth-place game and a battle with the Sooners. OU has won both games all-time in the series history, but the two teams haven't met since 1993. Monday's game will feature a clash in styles of play as the Sooners ranked ninth nationally in possessions per 40 minutes (81.8) and Minneosta ranks 86th (72.7).
- The Sooners' three All-Big 12 performers (Robertson, Ana Llanusa and Madi Williams) have each scored over 1,000 points in their OU careers. Oklahoma is the only school in the Big 12 Conference with three 1,000-point scorers and one of just six nationally (DePaul, Florida Gulf Coast, Oklahoma, Rutgers, Southern Illinois, Tennessee Tech). Robertson enters Monday's contest 17 points shy of the 1,500-point threshold and would become the 12th Sooner ever to reach the mark.
- With the announcement that the NCAA Women's Tournament will expand to 68 teams, ESPN released updated bracketology on Nov. 17. The Sooners moved up one spot to a No. 10 seed in the Spokane region. A staple of the NCAA postseason, Oklahoma has appeared in 21 NCAA Tournaments, including 19 since the turn of the century. The Sooners' 21 appearances in the tournament are the second most in the Big 12 Conference and are tied for 23rd most in NCAA history.
UP NEXT
The Sooners return to the United States and begin prep for their Nov. 30th contest with SMU in Dallas. The Sooners hold an 8-5 advantage all-time over the Mustangs, but the series is much closer in Dallas with OU holding a 4-3 lead.
