NORMAN – Freshman outside hitter
Megan Wilson was named the Big 12 Rookie of the Week for the third time this season, the conference announced Tuesday.
The Kingwood, Texas, native tallied 21 kills on the weekend against No. 2 Texas. Wilson averaged 3.50 kills/set against the Longhorns while also adding one service ace, two digs and one block. The freshman had 12 kills in Saturday's match against the Longhorns, her 22
nd match of the season with double-digit kills.
Wilson's four weekly awards (three Rookie of the Week, one Offensive Player of the Week) are tied for the most by any Sooner this season. The Sooners have picked up 10 weekly awards in 2021 to lead the league and an OU freshman has won rookie of the week in six of the last eight weeks. The Sooners are also the only school to have at least one athlete honored in all three categories this season.
Texas' Logan Eggleston was named the Offensive Player of the Week and K-State's Mackenzie Morris was named the Defensive Player of the Week.
Wilson and the Sooners have the weekend off before returning to the court for the final two matches of the season on Nov. 23-24. OU will host Baylor inside McCasland Field House to close out the year.
