AUSTIN – Oklahoma rowing concluded their fall schedule in Austin at the Head of the Colorado regatta on Saturday and captured four wins in all four of the events the Sooners entered.
Ā
"Our main goal for the weekend was to push the pace, gain valuable race experience, and continue growing together as a team," said OU assistant rowing coach Dinah Harjo. "We certainly did that and more with our boats earning four gold and two silver medals."
Ā
With a roster that featured most of the novice squad, Oklahoma tallied four victories and a pair of second-place finishes in both the women's collegiate four and collegiate novice eight.
Ā
OU started their Saturday with an early morning win in the women's collegiate eight, finishing with a time of 19:12.4.
Ā
The Sooners claimed a victory in the women's collegiate four with a time of 20:48.4 in the afternoon races and crossed the line in almost a minute faster than the second-place boat.
Ā
In the collegiate novice eight race, the three OU boats placed first (21:33.6), second (21:35.6) and sixth (24:44.7).
Ā
Oklahoma entered four boats in the collegiate novice four race, where the Sooners once again captured the top two spots.
Ā
Oklahoma's B boat led the way with a first-place finish at 21:34.7 with the A boat right behind coming in at 22:29.3. The final two boats posted times of 26:10.2 (C) and 26:15.5 (D) to earn sixth and seventh place finishes, respectively.Ā
