ATLANTA (ELC) – Top-ranked Oklahoma took down the No. 1-seeded Pepperdine Waves 3-1-1 in Tuesday's match play semifinals at the East Lake Cup on a day where the wind was howling around East Lake Golf Cub. It'll be Bedlam for the East Lake Cup title on Wednesday as No. 1 OU takes on No. 2 Oklahoma State in the championship match for the second time this month.Ā

"It's going to be a tough matchup," head coach Ryan Hybl said. "It doesn't matter, honestly, on the day who's paired up because good golf is going to win out."

After Pepperdine took an early 1-0 lead, Stephen Campbell Jr. and Jaxon Dowell earned the first two Sooner points within minutes of each other. Campbell took home a 3&1 win over Pepperdine'sĀ All-American ace William Mouw and Dowell never trailed in his 4&2 win over Joey Vrzich.

"I felt like I was striking the ball off the tee very, very well, really keeping it in position at least the whole front nine," Campbell said. "Back nine got a little bit squirrelly, but I kind of figured it out and was striking the ball really well."

Freshman Drew Goodman notched the clinching point in the anchor match. Goodman closed out a 4&3 win with a par on the iconic par-3 15th hole.

"I feel like I played really, really well today," Goodman said. " I didn't really make too many mistakes. I feel like to lose holes, I had to get beat. I didn't give anything away, which felt really good."

Chris Gotterup, Monday's co-medalist, had a hard-fought 1-down loss in the opening match of the day. Logan McCallister's match was tied on the final hole when Goodman clinched his point.

Oklahoma faces Oklahoma State, who defeated Arizona State 3-1-1 in the other semifinal. The Sooners and Cowboys last met two weeks ago in the Big 12 Match Play third-place match. OU convincingly won 5-1 to clinch the bronze.

The championship matches begin at 11:55 a.m. CT. Live scoring will be available via Golfstat and Golf Channel's live coverage is slated for 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. CT
