Sooners to Host UTA in Fall Exhibition Oct. 31

October 25, 2021 | Baseball

NORMAN – The Oklahoma baseball team will play host to UT Arlington in a fall exhibition scrimmage on Sunday, Oct. 31 at 1 p.m. at L. Dale Mitchell Park.

The exhibition contest, scheduled for 18 innings, will be open to the public and admission is free. The OU Athletics clear bag policy and walk-through metal detectors will be in effect. More information can be found here.

This will be the second fall exhibition matchup between the Sooners and Mavericks in the last three years. OU and UTA also met in Norman during the fall of 2019. Oklahoma did not play fall exhibitions against outside competition last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. OU claimed 7-1 and 15-5 victories over UTA in the spring.

The Sooners are in midst of fall workouts, which run through early November. The Crimson and Cream World Series was completed this weekend, with the Crimson team claiming a 2-1 series victory. The Cream team won the opener 8-7 before Crimson came back with 6-0 and 11-7 victories in a competitive and productive intrasquad fall world series.

Oklahoma is in its fifth year under head coach Skip Johnson. OU returned 17 players to the team this year and welcomed 28 newcomers, including 13 freshmen and 13 junior college transfer and two transfers from four-year schools. Included among the returners are seven position players that saw action in at least four games last spring and seven pitchers that made at least three appearances last season.
