Baseball Fall World Series Begins Tuesday

NORMAN — The Oklahoma baseball team will play a three-game fall intrasquad World Series beginning Tuesday, Oct. 19 at L. Dale Mitchell Park.
 
The Sooners, split into crimson and cream squads, will compete in three games as the pinnacle of fall workouts. OU will open the series at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, with the second game set for Friday, Oct. 22 at 4 p.m. The final contest will be played at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 24.

This is the second straight year Oklahoma has staged a competitive split-squad world series during the fall. Fall workouts continue through early November.

The Sooners are in their fifth year under head coach Skip Johnson. OU returned 17 players to the team this year and welcomed 28 newcomers, including 13 freshmen and 13 junior college transfer and two transfers from four-year schools. Included among the returners are seven position players that saw action in at least four games last spring and seven pitchers that made at least three appearances last season.
