October 19, 2021 | Volleyball

NORMAN – For the third time in four weeks and fourth time this season, freshman setter Peyton Dunn has been named the Big 12 Rookie of the Week.

The freshman set a career-high with 54 assists in the 3-2 win over Texas Tech, averaging 10.80 per set, and had her second match of the season with over 50 assists. She also picked up her seventh double-double of the year in the match with 11 digs (2.20 d/s). Dunn tallied 23 assists in the second match and has had at least 20 assists in every match this season.

Dunn's four weekly awards are the most by a Big 12 athlete in any category this season. The Sooners have picked up seven weekly awards this season to lead the league. Dunn's honor this week extended the streak of Sooners winning rookie of the week to four straight after Megan Wilson picked up honors last week.

Baylor's Yossiana Pressley was named the Offensive Player of the Week and Kansas State's Mackenzie Morris earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Dunn and the Sooners are off this weekend and will return to action on Oct. 29-30 when they travel to Lawrence, Kan., to take on the Kansas Jayhawks.
