NORMAN – The Oklahoma volleyball team fell to Texas Tech, 3-0, Friday night inside McCasland Field House.
The Sooners (9-10, 3-5 Big 12) were swept for the first time this season by the Red Raiders (13-8, 3-5 Big 12) falling 25-16, 25-17 25-16.
Savannah Davison led the offense with 14 kills on the day.
Paige Anderson chipped in six, while
Megan Wilson and
Tyler Alcorn each tallied four.
Peyton Dunn paced the offense with 23 assists on the night.
Callie Kemohah notched 10 digs to lead the team, followed by seven from
Olivia LittleJim.
Back-to-back service aces from Dunn helped the Sooners come back from an 8-5 deficit to tie the match. A block from Alcorn gave OU its first lead of the set with a 10-9 advantage. The teams continued to trade points up to the first media timeout where Tech held a 15-14 lead. Out of the break, a kill from Davison tied the match, but Tech used a 10-1 run to take the set, 25-16.
The Sooners trailed 4-1 early in the second set but fought back to tie the match. The Red Raiders would take their largest lead of the set at 18-11, forcing the Sooners to call timeout. OU pulled within four after an ace by
Grace Talpash, but Tech closed out the set, 25-17.
Tech opened the third set with a 6-1 run to force a Sooner timeout. OU struggled to find momentum offensively as Tech took the set, 25-16, and the match.
The Sooners will have next weekend off before traveling to Kansas on Oct. 29-30.
